Second Knife

Postby Desert Rat » Mon Aug 15, 2011 11:30 am

Second Knife , still struggle to get the perfect mirror finish. Perhaps because I finish with 1000 grit, maybe I need to get to 1400grit...dunno? ...anyway for my second knife and about 1 day to complete , not too shabby. Now I need to make sheaths, watch this space, this is this weekends project.

Hey D.R.
Good looking knives.
How long you been doin this ? Habit forming hey !
Mirror finish ??. You will possibly have to go with a polishing wheel and compounds.
Why not go for a satin finish ?

This is only my third knife (including the one i made on course) Being making knives on my own for about 2 months. Moerse addictive hobby...one thing I have learned...and are still learning is patience...dont rush what you are doing. When I reach fixed blade no 10 then I will go and try a liner locks.

Finally got the mirror finish...had to go to 1500 and 2000 grit then it came through fine. Next step is to get the etching stuff so I can brand my names.
